Your Role and Responsibilities This is a unique and exciting opportunity within the IBM Cloud and Cognitive Software organization, using your video, editorial, content development and copywriting expertise to manage technical content needs for a developer audience. IBM Developer (developer.ibm.com) is our primary content platform for growing our influence with developers around the world through a code, content, and community approach. We're seeking a dual-role editor who can produce, edit and publish video and promotional (surround) materials to help distribute video content. This role will also produce and edit content for the IBM Developer site across technical areas (including, but not limited to artificial intelligence, cloud computing, containers, Kubernetes, blockchain, data/analytics, Java, Node.js, and much more). This role will work through GitHub Enterprise and Zenhub to manage projects and move contributions along through the editorial and review process. The editor will work with our offering managers and developer advocates to ensure that every piece of content we publish is highly relevant and valuable for our audience. This position provides the opportunity to shape our coverage of our key technical priorities while boosting the IBM Developer brand's visibility and credibility in the technical landscape. Responsibilities: * Edit written and video content in various subject areas, tracking everything through GitHub Enterprise. * Work hand-in-hand with stakeholders across relevant business units to gain approval on all content that is published. * Work closely with internal content creators to perfect their contributions. * Source external content creators through a variety of means. * Occasionally write content and create new video content of varying lengths (and social media specific pieces) that adheres to our editorial standards. * Work with the broader editorial and video teams to adhere to best practices. * Package multimedia content pieces and series to maximize traffic and inspire our audience to take action. * Keep yourself current on industry trends and keep tabs on competitors' work. * Work closely editorial and video teams to ensure that all content that is published adheres to the highest editorial and quality standards. * Meticulous attention to detail in copyediting and video editing. * Build relationships and grow you network among IBM developer advocates and the broader (external) community. * Contribute to projects that DEG supports, like Call for Code. * Work closely with IBM Developer marketing team to help promote content Requirements: * Able to work from one of the following IBM office locations: * Raleigh, NC; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA and NYC * BA/BS degree or equivalent working experience. * Experience editing video and written technical content and familiarity with packaging multimedia assets. * Understanding of how to grow an audience and create content that meets addresses their needs. * Ability to communicate content performance data to relevant stakeholders and use that data to improve editorial choices. Required Technical and Professional Expertise * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Proven ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or other relevant video editing software * Strong analytical skills * Impeccable editorial judgment * Relationship building and mentorship with content creators * Ability to shape and package multimedia online content * Strong understanding of the role social media plays in building audience and promoting content Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise * Experience working in journalism, tech publishing or TV news production * Background in or general understanding of computer science and programming * Experience publishing through GitHub Enterprise * Knowledge of Associated Press style * Understanding of content syndication best practices
