Job SummaryThe Software Developer II will work closely with a dynamic team of developers who all share a common goal: building highly reliable systems that can handle huge loads.Basic QualificationsBachelor's or Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.At least 3+ years of experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation.At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation must involve: designing and developing large-scale, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using Java, and Object Oriented Design.Write high-quality, efficient, testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservices architecture.Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry to work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing.Own and operate the systems that you build based on real-time customer data and demanding service-level agreements.Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of a Scrum team.Maintain and enhance existing applications to meet and support additional business requirements.Knowledge of data structures and algorithmsStrong analytical skills.Preferred Qualifications3 - 5 years of software development experience with a benchmark of 10 years of experience Strong Java SE or Java EE skills (preferably with Javaversion 1.8 or later).Proficiency in Object Oriented design and programming.Experience with Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tools such as Hibernate.Experience using web presentation technologies such as JSP, JSF, Ajax, Javascript, andHandlebars.Proficiency with IDE-based development, especially in Eclipse or IntelliJ.Proficiency building unit tests/integration testsusing JUnit.Strong database experience, preferably with Oracle 10g or later.Experience building web services, especially using the REST style.Teamwork and communication Provide solutions for existing production performance issues.Perform other duties as required and assigned by the manager and upper management.Follow legal policies as directed.SkillsProgramming in Java, Scala, Python, SQL, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.Experience inSpring, Hibernate, REST, ORM, JPAExperience with Maven and GIT/SVNExperience with Relational and NoSQL databasesExperience with JMS.Development on Linux.EducationBachelor's or Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.Who We Are:Just a few minutes from Salt Lake City and Utah's ski slopes, Overstock is an original resident of "Silicon Slopes", one of the fastest growing technology hubs in the country.
