What You'll Do

We need an ambitious individual that is excited to work with ever-evolving cutting edge technology in the big data field. You will help automate and support a variety of technologies, with the goal of ensuring that production platforms are meeting availability and performance targets. Your work will enable organizations across Cisco to leverage data at scale.

Whom You'll Work

As a member of the Threat Intelligence Platform team, you'll be part of a highly empowered and collaborative group who is passionate about using data to help secure Cisco, enable security products, and foster security research.

Who You Are

You are a self-starter who your teammates can depend on being calm, consistent and systematic in supporting and automating production platforms. You also have strong troubleshooting skills and experience in an agile environment. As a result, clients and data engineers can depend on the platforms being there when they need it.

At minimum, we need you to have a BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 3-5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or as a DevOps engineer with experience in Python development - not just banging out scripts - focusing on containerization, platform automation, and performance monitoring.

In addition to those requirements, you must have proven experience:

  • Automating and monitoring applications and infrastructure. This includes on-premises Kubernetes using Prometheus, Grafana, and AlertManager, as well as server, network, and ancillary services.
  • Developing solutions related to other containerization services such as ingress controllers, kubernetes persistent volumes, StatefulSets, etc.
  • Using configuration management and CI/CD tools like Ansible and GitLab

In the 'we hope you have these, but they aren't absolutely required' category, if you have experience managing and deploying on-premises, containerized CockroachDB, you are going to be high on our list. Your skill deploying, managing, and monitoring on-premises Ambassador and haproxy/keepalived would also be a great leg-up on your competition. And experience with deployment of Cisco UCS domains and servers will give you a running start. Finally, in addition to other things not listed here, if you've worked on a big data platform (Cloudera/Hortonworks, MapR, Apache Hadoop), you are definitely going to be a candidate of interest.

Cisco is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected basis.

We Are Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Here's how we do it.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we're "old" (30 years strong!) and only about hardware, but we're also a software company. And a security company. A blockchain company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can't put us in a box!

But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a commitment to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
