Coinbase has built the world's leading compliant cryptocurrency platform serving over 30 million accounts in more than 100 countries. With multiple successful products, and our vocal advocacy for blockchain technology, we have played a major part in mainstream awareness and adoption of cryptocurrency. We are proud to offer an entire suite of products that are helping build the cryptoeconomy, and increase economic freedom around the world.
There are a few things we look for across all hires we make at Coinbase, regardless of role or team. First, we assess whether a candidate demonstrates our values: Clear Communication, Positive Energy, Efficient Execution, and Continuous Learning. Second, we look for signals that a candidate will thrive in a culture like ours, where we default to trust, embrace feedback, disrupt ourselves, and expect sustained high performance because we play as a championship team. Finally, we seek people with the desire and capacity to build and share expertise in the frontier technologies of crypto and blockchain, in whatever way is most relevant to their role.

The Coinbase Security team is looking for a Senior Security Architect to handle our increasingly complex internal systems. We do some very cool infrastructure security work supporting our AWS production environments, and we're looking for someone to help us do the same with our internal and back-office environments. These systems tend to be highly privileged as a requirement for the operational tasks they're required to perform, and thus present a deep creative challenge to appropriately lockdown. The partner engineering teams are already engaged with us, so we're looking for someone to engage right back.
What you'll be doing: Analyze the business opportunities, vendor solutions, and potential implementations with the engineering teams to provide feasibility and cost inputs. We'll rely on you to determine the security robustness requirements of the problem, and the capability of a given solution meeting those requirements. Seek solutions to the issues you flagged, and help us build scalable and maintainable answers. We measure ourselves not only by our ability to identify risks, but also by the quality of our mitigation. Full-lifecycle secure development support for the teams you're working with. This is not a documentation review and generation function as you'll be expected to drive security outcomes in implementation and technical operations.
What we look for in you: High quality, first principles based security thinking. Effective communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills. Comfort and speed in understanding the technicals of many disparate platform technologies, and our implementations on them.
Nice to haves: Salesforce, Mulesoft, and other common enterprise software platform and implementation experience Software engineering experience in addition to Security experience.
