The Senior Product Manager - Data Platforms works on technologies that democratize our data throughout the company. These technologies are built utilizing Agile development practices to deliver data solutions to anyone from business stakeholders to development team. We work to make the production and consumption of data something that developers, analysts, and any other user can navigate with confidence. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means that you can roll up your sleeves, interact with and influence stakeholders with competing priorities, and help drive successful outcomes. Maturity, a customer-centric mindset, negotiation skills, ability to influence and analytical talent are essential to succeed in this role.Job Responsibilities• Defines the "why" and "what" to ensure the team is focused on generating business value• Develop, evangelize, and execute on the product vision, mission, and strategy• Define and prioritize the key customer pain points to be solved• Become an expert on the domain, market, and trends in the space• Manage the roadmap• Make tough tactical prioritization decisions and tradeoffs while helping the company think long-term• Build trust with stakeholders and engineers by maintaining an understandable and accurate roadmap• Measure success and own the measures used to define success for your product• Creates Epics and User Stories with Acceptance Criteria• Protects business value by prioritizing the backlog• Approves user stories for release to customers• The primary interface to "the business"• Works with UX to act as the voice of the customerJob Requirements• 7+ years of product management experience• 4+ years of data platform experience• Passion for creative and resourceful problem solving• Demonstrated ability to coordinate software and data projects with various engineering and data teams• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams - work prioritization, planning and task delegation• Strong data background that allows for the right questions to be asked and to gather the necessary business requirements• Proficient in the Agile/Scrum software development methodology• Superior analytical and quantitative skills and experience using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success• Understanding of core web and database technologies• Familiarity with streaming data and the problems these systems can solve• Familiarity with enterprise data management approaches including enterprise data-as-a-product, data democratization, data governance practices and data catalogs• Strong communication abilities with data/engineering teams and stakeholdersEducation• Bachelor's Degree required (STEM field preferred)Who We Are:Just a few minutes from Salt Lake City and Utah's ski slopes, Overstock is an original resident of "Silicon Slopes", one of the fastest growing technology hubs in the country.
