If so, lets talk.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesLocation: Chicago, IL or Austin, TX PreferredThe Development Systems Engineering (DSE) Team within the IBM Cloud Development and Operations (DevOps) organization consists of Architects that support Cloud Object Storage (COS). This team is responsible for establishing requirements, architecture definition, crafting solutions to challenging problems, performing trade-offs, and roadmap creation. Architects provide technical direction, leading high priority programs and features, while collaborating with a broad range of individuals within and outside the organization. They also address security and compliance needs for clients of IBM Cloud.This opening seeks to fill a Senior Network Architect position within the DSE Team. Responsibilities include:+ Define requirements and use cases for networking features, working closely with offering managers and architects+ Provide technical direction and guidance in the architecture, design, and implementation of next generation networks+ Project a vision and create a roadmap for network direction, identifying new features and leveraging new technologies+ Assess network architecture, determining functionality gaps and deficiencies from an availability, security, and performance/scalability perspective+ Perform modeling to assess network impact of features+ Drive networking features from concept to deployment, engaging with other technical staff across development, test, and customer support+ Design solutions to address rate limiting, quality of service for data plane components+ Present solutions to complex networking problems and trade-offs+ Identify risks, threats, potential impacts, and develop mitigation plans+ Address security and compliance needs+ Document architecture solutions and direction+ Support network troubleshooting as requiredRequired Technical and Professional Expertise+ Demonstrated technical leadership and initiative+ Strong technical understanding of network availability, security, and performance/scalability concerns+ Solid understanding of network boundary and isolation concepts+ Experience with developing and optimizing large scale systems+ Experience with VPC, cloud, and data center technologies+ Experience with load balancer, switch, DNS, and routing technologies+ Experience with network protocols, such as TLS, BGP, MPLS, and OSPF+ Experience with network monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds+ Experience working in a DevOps environment+ Hands on troubleshooting, including leveraging tools such as Wireshark+ Experience with scripting languages, for example, Python, Perl, Bash, Expect/TCL+ Experience with Linux+ Self-motivated and pro-active in identifying issues and solutions+ Ability to work independently+ Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills+ Periodic travel to other IBM offices and/or data centers may be requiredPreferred Technical and Professional Expertise+ Automation of network setup+ Vendor certifications+ Vendor hardware platforms+ Compliance understanding, such as SOC2N/AAbout Business UnitDigitization is accelerating the ongoing evolution of business, and clouds - public, private, and hybrid - enable companies to extend their existing infrastructure and integrate across systems.
