SDV is new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business.GM is searching for a high-performing individual to support SDV. As we expand our core software competency in our newly aligned organization, we are placing an increased value on the SW Application Architect responsibilities.Software Application Architect is responsible for defining and supporting the building of desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable APPs that meet customer needs over the product-market lifecycle. The Architect is driven by a customer centric mindset and platform oriented to utilize design thinking to guide their decisions. Responsible for working closely with Software Development teams, to help establish technology road maps to execute on their top business applications. This individual will be a very well rounded Application Architect that has a broad background of understanding of technologies and can learn new technologies/off the box tools quickly to help tackle embedded problems, develop Application design and architecture.This role will provide leadership in these areas across the SDV and GM organization in both a strategic and tactical manor.Responsibilities Include but not limited: Design Application architecture that is flexible and robust for the future of a Vehicle Software Platform; including modeling, software tools, and automated generation of software artifacts to support the platformLead the strategy and development of the Application Software architectureLead design reviews with specialists within the company, as well as industry professionalsArchitect, design and develop software in a SDV toolchainManage change requests in the system and with the architecture community to implement your changes into actionsCommunicate information to and from internal and external customer organizationsStay abreast of new technologyCollaborate with engineering, architect community, and business teams in recommending new technologies to ensure innovation, quality, and productivity, and help create technology roadmapCoach the SW Developer scrum team in executing the development deliverablesBe the primary GM engineer to collaborate with the architecture team within SDV and GM businessAdditional Job DescriptionBasic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degreeMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience with at least 3 years hands on working experience related to SOA software developmentProficient in C, ++ programming, JavaOutstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as neededEmerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directedConsistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centricAppropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goalsExceptional collaboration and teamwork; demonstrated ability for working through others and influencing without direct authorityPreferred Experience: Master's degree in a related technical fieldExperience with C, C++, python, rust and java developmentScaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certificationKnowledge with AUTOSAR and Adaptive AUTOSAR standards and methodologyExperience with safety critical design, testing and validation, e.g. ISO26262Experience with GIT/source code management, CI/CD development, open source SW development/contributorExperience with microcontroller architecture, electronic control systems, embedded system developmentExperience with network engineering, telecommunications, network development and testingExperience with edge, cloud, IoT technologies, operating systems, OS internals, OS design, virtualization technologies, containerization/container development, blockchain, Mobile/Smart Devices, Android and iOS App developmentKnowledge of data science, data analytic tools, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI)Knowledge and experience with CAN, LIN or Ethernet communications protocolExperience implementing out of the box technologiesBenefits OverviewThe goal of the General Motors total rewards program is to support the health and well-being of you and your family.
