Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM is seeking a candidate for the role of Research Staff Member to work at its T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY.

You should have demonstrated research experience at the intersection of cloud technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, containers) and high-performance computing (HPC). You should also demonstrate technical leadership potential. As part of the IBM Research team, you will conduct world-class research on innovative technologies and solutions, engage in the professional community and publish in top-tier conferences and journals. Will also contribute to the commercialization of the resulting assets. Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team, are highly-desired traits.

You will shape the evolution of the hybrid cloud platform in support of performance-sensitive workloads. Research areas could include, but are not limited to: high-performance virtualization; optimal container technologies and containerization approaches for high-performance computing; Kubernetes scheduling enhancements; or other ways that high-performance computing could intersect the hybrid cloud.

PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related area is required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

* Experience with using cloud computing for AI and HPC workloads-2 years
* Experience with Containers, Kubernetes and use of these technologies for AI/ML workloads-2 years
* Linux experience-4 years
* Scientific publications, community activities that demonstrate collaboration and outreach-2 years
