In this newly created R Software Architect role, you will have the opportunity to research emerging technologies and use your architecture, development and technical leadership skills to bring cool ideas to life!Job Responsibilities Translates customer needs and customer feedback and requirements into technical specifications for innovative technology products/services. Serves as a technical leaderwho can lead the creation of proof of concept prototypes andsolution architecture for new R applications. Provides technical leadership on emerging technologies and platforms to create prototypes, keeping in mind cost, ease to acquire internal or external expertise, risk and ability to transition to production. Leads and manages projects from ideation through completion, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, partners and/or contributors. Explores production options, including internal and external resources. Develops and manages partnerships with third party providers as appropriate (i.e. vendors, research institutes, educational partnerships, etc.) Leads and communicates the status of projects: prepares project plans, decides timelines and resources, and presents and effectively communicate information and progress to cross-functional teams and management. Manages project budget and manages project scope. Reviews software engineering processes from external partners, such as functional specifications, design specifications, code, unit tests, system test plans, feature test plans to ensure high quality output. Works closely with Portfolio Management and internal development teams to effectively transition new products/services from Innovation to creation. QualificationsExperience and Education: Bachelor's degree in a technology or engineering related field. 10+ years of software development experience, including strong development skills over a broad range of technologies Familiarity with a low-level programming language such as C or C++, and coding/scripting ability in a higher-level language required. Prior experience creating solution architecture for large/complex solutions. Experience with AWS or Azure IoT technologies. Prior experience managing external vendors/technical contract resources. Other Requirements: Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Knowledge of and passion for emerging technologies (e.g. IoT, cloud computing, AI, Blockchain) and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Ability to analyze and creatively solve problems. Ability to work in a team environment and interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements. Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail. Physical RequirementsWork is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.Other Information At J. J.
