If so, lets talk.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs IBM's products and services span the globe, the Network Planning team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for IBM's future - everything from capacity across underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Network Planning Engineer, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support IBM's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Technical leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save IBM millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.The core function of the position that we are looking to create and fill within the Network Planning organization will focus on managing vendor contract obligations post-execution and in parallel with service activation/termination. Responsibilities will include:+ Service Level Agreement (SLA) enforcement+ Monthly invoice review against contract changes/amendments+ Initiation of billing dispute process (internal and external)+ Contracts management / workflow+ Vendor engagement for administrative function+ Monthly reporting - billing and contract analytics+ Cross-functional team engagements between Ops / Eng / PlanningRequired Technical and Professional Expertise+ At least 5 years of full-time experience managing technology/networking-related projects either working directly for a large OTT/Hyperscaler or in direct support of at least one OTT/Hyperscaler+ An ability to think critically and use a data-driven, analytical approach towards solving complex problems+ Deep working knowledge of and experience deploying large telecommunications networks, using the full range of interconnection product suite(s) in Layers 1 through 3, including, but not limited to wavelengths, dark fiber, IP products (Transit/Peering), etc.+ Experience with inter-connectivity requirements within carrier hotels including unique patch panel types and port configurations, fiber cabling infrastructure, connector types, optical distribution frames, and splice trays+ Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely, using written and verbal communication skills+ Excellent problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills+ An ability to multitask and communicate between multiple internal groups, external providers, and people of varying technical expertise+ English: FluentPreferred Technical and Professional Expertise+ At least 10 years of full-time experience working in telecommunications networks with hands-on knowledge of carrier backbone networking+ Experience with inside and outside plant fiber construction best practices (MPOE, diversity, riser construction, fiber testing, etc.)+ A solid understanding of Internet routing protocols, DWDM, GPON, and transport systems+ Strong background working with spreadsheets, project management tools and network inventory management systems+ Willingness to travel up to 25%About Business UnitDigitization is accelerating the ongoing evolution of business, and clouds - public, private, and hybrid - enable companies to extend their existing infrastructure and integrate across systems.
