The ideal candidate must be familiar with the trading floor and work closely with the traders.The candidate will develop and enhance our client's data infrastructure and become an expert in all phases of our software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, analysis, design, construction, deployment, and maintenance. The KDB developer will research, coordinate and resolve production support issues by interacting closely with product owners, clients, and the business.ResponsibilitiesEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop robust, high performance, unit tested KDB+ solutions, both tactical and strategic as required and prioritizedDeliver solutions in line with the strategic KDB architecture, and in a way such that they can be shared across asset classes when requiredWork closely with senior business users to understand requirements and deliver high quality solutionsProvide estimates for tasks, including design, development and testingThe candidate will be able to communicate with the business to understand their requirements and manage their expectations of delivery, at director and managing director levelKey stakeholders must be kept aware of the processes and procedures require for work prioritizationIf an expedited solution is necessary, the candidate should be able to analyze the situation and deliver rapid resolutionsThe candidate should understand the impact a change has when defining solutions and build this into estimatesQualificationsRequired skills:Must have strong KDB skillsMust be familiar with kdb+/q tick architectureExperience with qspec testing frameworkDemonstrable knowledge of market data, trade dataStrong knowledge of equity trading, basket trading, index arb, futures, optionsEducation and experienceBachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering degree5-10 years development experience in front office / electronic trading systemsStrong interest in cryptocurrencyCompany's BenefitsTalan's offices are located in Union Square, right in the center of Manhattan.
