Role

The TIS Project Manager is a servant leader who is responsible for leading enterprise technology projects and programs. This role partners with Sponsors and Program Managers to advocate for the project, clarify goals, understand constraints, secure resources, and remove impediments. The TIS PM collaborates with Stakeholders and Project Team members to define, prioritize, and complete tasks to achieve milestones and troubleshoot issues/risk. This role is responsible for engaging Stakeholders and Project Team members, creating and managing the detailed and milestone plans, defining and implementing the communication strategy, identifying issues/risk and potential solutions, and providing transparency into the health of the project.

Responsibilities

Advocate for the Project/Program

  • Demonstrated strong belief in the value of the engagement and confidence in the delivery team
  • Work with sponsor(s) to articulate the strategic vision and goals of the engagement

Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

  • Listen, consult others, and communicate proactively
  • Define communication strategy
  • Establish meeting cadence and ground rules; ensure there is a specific goal, desired outcome, and documented results for each meeting/workshop; publish meeting artifacts in the document repository
  • Create and manage collaboration channel(s) on Slack
  • Create and manage project artifacts in a centralized repository (sharepoint or confluence)
  • Create and manage work repository (Jira and/or MSFT Project); publish high level milestone plan on document repository
  • Provide timely and accurate updates (Reports) on the health of the engagement; tailored to impacted audiences and posted to the document repository
  • Review engagement health, accomplishments, and high level issues/risk with stakeholders
  • Effective use of video conferencing and other tools to enable a collaborative work environment for geographically diverse teammates
  • Develop and openly communicate self-insight

Build Effective Teams and Partnerships

  • Demonstrate an interest in others and foster an environment of inclusiveness

Manage the Work and Deliver Results

  • Shield team from external interferences so they can stay focused on delivery and quality
  • Work with Project Team members to define deliverables/milestones; include underlying tasks, dependencies, resources, and effort
  • Filter through copious amounts of information, identify trends, and present findings in an easy to comprehend manner
  • Create a comprehensive plan and ensure it reflects current status of each task/milestone
  • Create high level milestone plan and integrate into Program and TIS Portfolio Roadmaps, as appropriate
  • Review action items and hold self and team accountable for follow through
  • Navigate complex release management environments

Identify, Assess, and Mitigate Issues, Risks, and Constraints

  • Work with Project Team members to identify risks and issues
  • Anticipate and assess impact of missed deadlines and scope changes
  • Anticipate and assess issue/risk impact on the health of the engagement
  • Determine if team can resolve or if an escalation is warranted
  • Create and manage a centralized source of project issues/risks
  • Define and implement escalation thresholds, procedures, and resources
  • Assess project constraints and work with project team and stakeholders to identify alternatives
  • Foster creativity and empowerment

Optimize End User and Client Experience

  • Create and manage the change management plan
  • Identify and engage communication, talent management, and project stakeholder resources to support creation of the user reference site and corresponding materials; defines what, why, when, how, and actions required
  • Support the end users and Clients through implementation of the change and ensures an optimized experience

Requirements

  • 4 Year College Degree or Equivalent Experience; Management, Business, or Management Information Systems
  • Minimum 10 years progressive project management to include enterprise technology programs
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred; Agile Scrum Certification a plus; strong understanding of project management methodologies and agile principles/values required
  • Financial Services industry and infrastructure experience, preferred
