Publicly Traded Crypto Currency Broker (FinTech Company) Global Controller Opportunity (Remote Work possible)


We are a team of finance and technology industry veterans dedicated to empowering and servicing investors in one of the most exciting asset classes to date - crypto. Our founders stem from reputable finance and technology organizations like E*TRADE, Uber, TradeIt, Lightspeed Financial and more.


Responsibilities:

● Reporting to the CFO, overseeing all accounting matters, including technical accounting standards, consolidations, external audit and public company reporting, general accounting, and accounting systems implementation

● Oversee the monthly accounting close process, including the Company's monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and management reporting of results, operating metrics, and flux analyses

● Design, implement and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures and controls

● Develop and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and chart of account infrastructure to efficiently support business scale and activities.

● Lead the implementation of new ERP Systems (i.e. NetSuite)

● Provide technical accounting subject matter expertise on the treatment of accounting transactions and related financial reporting requirements and ensure that our financial statements are consistent with IFRS (and Canadian public company reporting requirements; write accounting memos as necessary; stay current on the latest IFRS)

● Lead the production and preparation of financial information required for filings of the Company's financials with external stakeholders

● Lead the execution of year-end audit procedures in partnership with independent auditors

● Evaluate the accounting and financial reporting impact of operational decisions

● Partner with the executive management team, business units and other members of the finance team to provide advice on financial implications of business activities.

● Hire, train, and retain skilled accounting staff to scale the accounting function to support company growth and expansions.

● Support ad hoc projects


Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in Accounting; active CPA or equivalent required

● 12 years of relevant experience in public accounting firms and high-tech industry companies with extensive technical accounting experience, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.

● Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, public company reporting requirements, and regulations.

● Experience in Fintech or online brokerage companies

● Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting

● Proven experience to select and implement ERP (NetSuite is a plus)

● Experience with technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition, lease accounting and fixed asset capitalization rules.

● Experience with multi-currency consolidations

● Excellent written and oral communication skills, clear and precise in communication

● Bonuses: Experience with Money Service Businesses, Crypto knowledge, Understanding of IFRS Rules
