General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for an Entry-Level Network Engineer to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a great opportunity to utilize and grow the systems engineering concepts you developed while obtaining your Bachelors Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering,Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Youll get to work side by side with new and experienced teammates on Rescue 21, a United States Coast Guard program.Rescue 21 is the Coast Guards advanced command, control and direction-finding communications system created to better locate mariners in distress and save lives and property at sea and on navigable rivers. By harnessing state-of-the-market technology, the General Dynamics-built Rescue 21 system enables the Coast Guard to execute its search and rescue missions with far greater agility and efficiency.What youll be doing:The Entry-Level Network Engineer provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering and design, and implements techniques and tools to improve the network. You will also be responsible for conducting maintenance on existing networks using existing documentation and artifacts. The Entry-Level Network Engineer coordinates with stakeholders to provide maintenance and troubleshoot hardware interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, etc.What you bring to the table:Ability to handle more complex assignments and grasps and apply new information quickly.Ability to research the requisite steps to accomplish a task; understanding that time spent solving a problem is time spent honing and improving an existing skillset.Experience with subnetting, designing, and implementing simple networks.The ability to take an existing network topology, improve upon it, and put the architecture into practice.Experience configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 Cisco switches with users, routes, remote access, VLANs, LACP groups, etc.Eager to learn, grow, and try new networking technologies and architectures.Support and assist in the design and planning of network systems.Experience or coursework desired:Cisco CCT, CCNA or more advanced certifications.Experience employing COMSEC in network design.Updating firmware and security hardening network equipment.Experience configuring Cisco Routers and Cisco FirewallsExperience implementing Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN)Experience documenting network topologiesLinux system administration experience deploying services like TFTP, DHCP, NTP, SSH, etc.Configuring Virtual Private NetworksDesigning and Implementing firewall rulesets.
