In this highly visible customer facing role as a Technical Consulting Engineer, you will:

  • Engage with customers and other Cisco partners on successful planning and execution of validation engagements.
  • Support next generation R&S, Data Center, and Service Provider customers to accelerate implementation of new platforms/solutions.
  • Validate new design solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Drive requirements discussions, analyze test requirements, build test lab configurations, author and execute test plans, and document results.
  • Identify key issues and gaps and work with engineering and delivery teams to resolve them.
  • Develop/integrate new technologies into lab environments.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects from Delivery and Sales teams regarding future initiatives and securing customer business.
  • Innovate to gain efficiency and accelerate validation efforts.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and facilitate new business growth opportunities.

Solution Validation Services (SVS) is an organization within Cisco Customer Experience (CX) focused on validating complex customer-specific networks and accelerating integration of new technologies as well as solutions.

Our team has expertise across the breadth of the Cisco product portfolio along with extensive expertise in a variety of third-party and competitive products. With hundreds of engineers and world-class facilities around the world, SVS helps design and deploy the technologies our customers need to give their business a competitive edge in today's business climate.

Who you are

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, hardworking engineer with technical experience with Core routing and switching, Service Provider technologies, and preferably automation technologies. You also have customer interaction, troubleshooting, and consulting skills. As well as proficient in customer facing discussions as well as the technologies listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS plus 4-5+ years related experience, or a MS with 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Customer Facing experience
  • Previous experience in a customer support or TAC-style role
  • Ability and experience debugging and solving complex network problems
  • Route and Switching experience and a CCNA
  • Knowledge of IOS-XR, IOS-XE, NX-OS, and IOS
  • Knowledge of Cisco SP platforms (GSR, CRS, ASR9K, ASR1K, NCS5500), Cisco ISR, Catalyst product families as well as in Cisco DC platforms (N3K, N7K, N9K)
  • Experience in all or most of the following: ISIS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, LAN Switching, STP, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, Multicast, Virtualization, EVPN, QoS, IPv6, MST, PIM, DMVPN, NetFlow
  • Programming experience/familiarity (Python / Robot Framework preferred)
  • Linux/Unix experience
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and formal presentation)

Desired Qualifications

  • CCNP
  • Cisco ASA, IPSEC Tunneling, VxLAN, NFVi.
  • Openstack and VMWare Virtualization
  • Multimedia traffic analysis experience
  • Network programmability (Python, Netconf, Yang)
  • Test and validation experience (hardware or software)
  • Proficient with Industry Test Tools; Spirent or Ixia
