This position will fill a vacant role in a well-established Associate and Bachelor Computer Technologies degree programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Cisco Networking, Cyber Security, and other computer science related courses like Blockchain.The individual awarded this position is expected to be an active and engaged member of the college and the department. A physical presence on campus is required for the benefit of students and a collegial atmosphere. This position is based at Great Basin College's Elko campus. Anticipated start date for this position is January 2022.For descriptions of GBC's Computer Technologies program courses, please refer to the college catalog available online at :To be considered for this position, the candidate must meet the following minimum set of qualifications:M.S. (Ph.D. preferred) in computer science or closely related field required or conferred within 12 months of hireDemonstrated post-secondary teaching ability in computer science or closely related fieldCisco teaching certifications required or acquired within 12 months of hireExperience teaching through distance education technologies is requiredCandidate will be able to teach introductory and advanced classes. Preference will be given to those strong in the areas of Cisco networking and Cyber Security.Responsibilities:Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Teach undergraduate computer technologies courses and other related courses like Blockchain etc.Develop and teach a Cyber Security programIncorporate project-based learning into curriculumEngage industry to create partnerships for student employmentHold at least one industry advisory board meeting per yearEvaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomesMaintain office hours to provide student advisement, participate in recruitment activities, and program/curriculum developmentParticipate and serve in college, department and program meetings, committees, and activities as required of all GBC faculty membersTravel primarily throughout the state of Nevada (with or without accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act) as neededOther duties as assignedSalary and Benefits:Annual salary range is $46,461 - $80,000 commensurate with experience and education.Nevada System of Higher Education benefits package includes a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with employees contributing 15.50 % and a matching 15.50% from the employer, medical/dental/vision plan, benefit time, 11 paid holidays, and tuition waiver at Nevada System of Higher Education colleges for the employee and family.
