The MITRE Cyber & Investigative Technologies (P581) team
works closely with its Federal Law Enforcement and IC sponsors to enhance US
national security, primarily from a cyber security perspective. Our highly
agile team enjoys a dynamic but stable work program with immediate and
long-term opportunities for career growth and development. We are seeking a Junior
Cyber Threat Analyst who would thrive working on the nation's toughest cyber
challenges in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment. Expectations
would include serving as an objective, informed partner with government leaders
who rely on MITRE's insight and expertise to advance the government's best
interest and develop cutting-edge technologies. This role offers an opportunity
to support a key DOJ sponsor and to develop new capabilities for analyzing and
acting on cryptocurrency and blockchain data.

Key Functions

  • Serve on-site as a cyber technology advisor for
    multiple levels of government leadership
  • Interface between cutting-edge technical experts
    (MITRE and government) and law enforcement leaders, pairing mission needs with
    achievable technical capabilities
  • Provide cyber, analytic, and systems engineering
    thinking and expertise to help refine existing cryptocurrency capabilities and
    develop new ones
  • Develop and maintain written and visual products
    for both internal and external audiences
Required Qualifications
  • Proven analytical and creative thinking
    abilities
  • Familiarity with cyber, law enforcement, or
    intelligence communities and operations
  • Ability to interact with all levels of senior
    leadership in a dynamic sponsor environment
  • Strong, team-centric interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to adapt to new situations, and to learn
    new data formats, programming languages, or analytic tools
Other Requirements
  • Work
    Location: Candidates will be required to
    work at a primary location in Arlington, VA, with periodic meetings throughout
    the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Clearance Requirements: A
    clearance is not required to start, but candidates must be willing to pursue
    and able to eventually obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Prohibition on Drug Use:
    Government suitability standards prohibit consideration of any candidate with
    illegal drug use within the previous three years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant
    field, e.g., cyber security, data science, computer science, computer
    engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in software development,
    cryptography, or data science
  • Experience working with cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin,
    Ethereum, Monero, ZCash)
  • Knowledge of basic cryptographic primitives
    including (but not limited to) hash functions, asymmetric encryption, symmetric
    encryption, digital signatures, ring signatures, zero knowledge proofs
  • Experience or interest in TOR, its uses and
    advantages/disadvantages
  • Interest or experience in reverse engineering of
    database/file structures
  • Experience with Python, C/ , Java, or another
    programming language
  • or other blockchain technologies
  • Experience in intelligence analysis
  • Ability to present and persuade appropriately
