Parsons School of Design, a college of The New School, seeks applicants for a renewable term faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Strategic Design & Management within the School of Design Strategies (SDS).
We invite interested candidates to join an inspired group of trans-disciplinary faculty who are reimagining organizational forms, responding to and stimulating new areas of action research, and cultivating degree programs that integrate next generation management capacities into the experience of students across the university.
We welcome applications from scholar-practitioners who are advancing practice and research in areas related to the future of management. Candidates should demonstrate active curiosity about the forms of knowledge, skills, capacities and literacies required to adeptly respond to complex 21st-century global challenges. We seek candidates who are advancing practice and theories of change in complex contexts including design-driven businesses and/or organizations. Candidates should demonstrate desire to collaboratively discover and prototype next-generation practices in one or more of the following areas: leadership, futuring, transition design, entrepreneurship, business strategy, organizational change, brand strategy, social innovation, alternative financing, business modeling, open source development, blockchain technologies, policy, and value-chain management. We seek collaborative mindsets and thought leadership to contribute to - and be enriched by - communities of action learning and mutual mentoring.
The faculty member will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily in the BBA in Strategic Design and Management, and the MS in Strategic Design and Management. The standard teaching load is five courses or equivalent per academic year, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. All faculty are expected to produce professional, scholarly and creative practices appropriate to their appointed rank. University citizenship that may include rotating leadership roles such as program directorship (with course release), and chairing committees and task forces. The faculty member must have the capacity to direct a baccalaureate or master?s level degree program in the field. Experience with online learning platforms is preferred.
