Facebook is seeking to fill the role of Accounting Manager to be a part of the accounting operations team for Facebook's blockchain efforts, reporting to the Blockchain Controller. This manager will assist in establishing and providing hands-on operational accounting support for a number of start-up entities under this project. We are looking for an individual who is able to embrace ambiguity, demonstrates great project management, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, as well as the ability to adapt and iterate as the overall project needs solidifies to become an integral part of the blockchain business. Although the goal is to establish and sustain the accounting operational support, because this is a brand new effort, this individual will have the chance to learn rapidly from teams of all disciplines including but not limited to business development, technology, enterprise engineering, treasury operations, payment compliance, financial technologies ("fin-techs"), global tax, international compliance, legal, policies as well as from our external advisors. From these interactions, this manager will assist in building the accounting operation process of Facebook blockchain companies to support the day-to-day transactions from record to report and set these entities up well to prepare for financial statement carve-outs, related audits and potential divestitures, if/when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Be part of a start-up team with Facebook blockchain business to support the overall objective of the project. This person will be one of the core stakeholders and at the same time one of the key contributors of the project's success




  • Build and strengthen working relationships and scale with the growth of business teams to ensure successful integration with various business functions throughout the business development phase and launch




  • Embed with product and project management organizations, work closely with platform and product engineering teams to provide operational accounting due-diligence in supporting end-to-end full life cycle of product deployment, including but not limited to design review, testing, launch, reporting and compliance




  • Perform the day-to-day accounting operation of Facebook blockchain companies, including regulatory compliance when needed




  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards, including related new controls, as they relate to the Facebook blockchain efforts across other cross-functional finance teams within the company where applicable




  • Assist with the preparation of financial statement disclosures in times of high seasonal demand or in areas with increased complexity, including the setup and ongoing internal controls over financial reporting related to the blockchain project



  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor or higher degree in accounting or finance




  • CPA, or equivalent qualification with US GAAP/IFRS experience




  • Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm




  • 7+ years of multi-disciplinary accounting experience




  • Communication and cross functional experience and experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment



  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience with cryptocurrency, asset custody, FinTech or other financial services operational role




  • Experience with non-routine transactions, including but not limited to the areas of variable interest entities (VIEs), consolidation, and carve out financials
